“2 cheers” 2nd year tour

Through a tour that includes 3 presentations in America, and in particular on the west coast, 2 great traditional European spirits “Tsipouro” and “Rakia” were presented.

On Friday, April 27, 2018, the famous “international smoke” restaurant in San Francisco hosted a presentation of the European program “2 cheers”, co-funded by the European Union, Bulgaria and Greece.

The event took place for the 2nd consecutive year in America, and is one of the three planned “stops” as the other two will take place in Las Vegas on May 2, 2018 at “The Meet” alongside the presence of the WSWA program and May the 4th 2018, in Los Angeles, in SLS Hotel Hall as the last stop.

The spirits were a key component of the cocktail offered to the attendees, giving a new idea of their qualities, apart from being consumed in the traditional way.

Main Bodies of this campaign are Regional Vine and Wine Chamber “South Coast” Burgas & Agricultural Winery Cooperative of Tirnavos.

Tsipouro is a Greek alcoholic beverage and its consumption is associated with religious holidays, as it is consumed in the period of Lent, together with meatless dishes. “Nowadays” tsipouro” still is famous among spirits.

This exceptional drink is the product of multiple distillations retaining the character of the Muscat grape variety.

The complex aroma and rich taste are elements acquired through the long aging procedure in oak barrels.

Rakya “Pomoriyska grozdova rakya” has a clear, transparent, free of admixtures, color, and a fascinating fragrance of white flowers and acacia, and the flavor of vanilla and caramel. “Burgaska muscatova rakya” is characterized by its transparent straw color, with a pleasant Muscat aroma, and the flavor of dried fruit, with a slight tinge of vanilla. Both drinks are with a light to golden color, acquired during their maturing in oak casks or from the addition of caramel.

Celebrate Diablo Ballet’s ONE NIGHT ONLY 23rd Anniversary Performance at the Lesher Center, featuring Three to Tango by Diablo Ballet’s Artistic Advisor and dance legend Sally Streets, which was originally choreographed for the Company’s inaugural season in 1994.
The evening offers the glorious pas de deux and coda from Raymonda,
and an exciting World Premiere Film by award-winning filmmaker Walter Yamazaki. The program finale features the spellbinding Carnival of the Imagination by Robert Dekkers.

The band repertoire is full of exciting and beautiful symphonic dances, from John Corigliano’s “Gazebo Dances” to Alfred Reed’s Armenian Dances and Clifton Williams, Symphonic Dance No.3”.  Special appearance by Joseph Lulloff, professor of saxophone from Michigan State University, performing “A Tribute to Rudy Wiedoeft”, and a few other surprises.

The multiple Grammy-winning marvel – equally renowned as violinist, violist and conductor – does not give many recitals in the Bay Area, so this will be a rare opportunity to hear one of the legends of our time: a deeply musical virtuoso, currently playing at the height of his powers.

The multiple Grammy-winning Pinchas Zukerman is equally respected as violinist, violist, conductor, pedagogue and chamber musician.  His musical genius, prodigious technique and unwavering artistic standards have inspired audiences and critics alike over four decades.

Mr. Zukerman’s 2015-2016 season included over 100 performances throughout North and South America, Europe, Asia and Australia. In his seventh season as Principal Guest Conductor of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London, he lead the ensemble in concerts in the United Kingdom and on an extensive U.S. tour. Additional orchestral engagements include the Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas and New World Symphonies, and Orpheus Chamber Orchestra for tour dates including New York’s Carnegie Hall.  He visited the Mariinsky, Korean Chamber and San Carlo Orchestras, toured with Salzburg Camerata and Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz and returned to Australia for appearances with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra in Brisbane and West Australian Symphony Orchestra in Perth. He performed recitals in the United States, United Kingdom, France and Australia, and toured with the Zukerman Trio in the US, Italy, Spain, Australia, Japan and throughout South America.  In 2016, he begins his tenure as Artist-in-Association with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra.

Born in Tel Aviv in 1948, Pinchas Zukerman came to America in 1962 where he studied at The Juilliard School with Ivan Galamian. He has been awarded the Medal of Arts, the Isaac Stern Award for Artistic Excellence and was appointed as the Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative’s first instrumentalist mentor in the music discipline. Mr. Zukerman’s extensive discography contains over 100 titles, and has earned him two Grammy awards and 21 nominations. This season sees the release of Brahms’s Symphony No. 4 and Double Concerto with the National Arts Centre Orchestra and cellist Amanda Forsyth, recorded in live performances at Ottawa’s Southam Hall.
